Sunday Music in the Park: Carbondale Summer Concert Series

On July 19th, August 23rd and September 13th, Sopris Park will come alive with community and music. Live entertainment will run 5-8pm. People are welcome to come and set up picnic blankets, chairs and low sun shades to enjoy the summer nights! Keeping in tradition with years past, there will be no food or alcohol vendors on site and we encourage attendees to pack a picnic, get take out from a local restaurant or pre-purchase a locally curated picnic basket.

Sunday Music in the Park is one of Carbondale’s longest-running free community events. The program was founded by Amy Kimberley as a community-organized concert series in Sopris Park, building a tradition of Sunday-evening music that has carried through multiple generations of organizers. Approximately 14 years ago, Marty, Steve, and Ralph assumed stewardship of the program and have run it as a volunteer-led effort since.

Following the recent transition of program leadership, Western Mosaic Fund has assumed responsibility as fiscal sponsor to ensure the series continues with stable financial backing, transparent reporting, and a clear path toward long-term sustainability. Kat Hardy of Current Ritual is now leading event production for Music in the Park. Kat has produced Dandelion Day since 2023 and Potato Days since 2025 in addition to other Western Mosaic offerings.
