4th of July Parade & Pool Party

Have a great time on July 4th with a real old-fashioned family celebration. The celebration begins with a kids' parade down Main Street that ends in Sopris Park where there will be food, crafts, children's games, chalk art projects, free watermelon, and live music.


Come in costume, decorate your bike, wear your uniform, play an instrument or do a routine. Parade route will be down Main Street, ending in Sopris Park.


Community Pool Party at the John M. Fleet Swimming Pool. Free ice cream and watermelon after the parade. Games, food, live music, and more!

The Carbondale Mountain Fair began in 1972 with 20 booths showcasing local artists and artisans. Mt. Sopris Runoff & 4-mi Run

The 40th Annual Mount Sopris Run off & 4 Mile Fair Run is happening again in 2018! Come and join us for this funky, fun and challenging 14 mile race. We will also have a super fast downhill 4 Mile Fair Run held the same day. Both races are held in conjunction with, and finish at, the Carbondale Mountain Fair. Registration is only $45 ($40 for in store registration & 4 Mile Fair Run). The race starts in Basalt (Emma School House) climbs 1500 feet up West Sopris Creek Road, then descends 1700 feet past the 4 mile start and into Carbondale, finishing in Sopris Park where Mountain Fair activities are just beginning. Bus service is available before the 4 Mile race (from Sopris Park) to get you to the start and after the 14 mile race to get you back to your car (if needed) at the start of that race. Porcupine Loop Bike Race

Aloha Mountain Cyclery and Stomparillaz Creative Cycling Collective keep the fun factor high of this casual race by requiring costumes and creative obstacles. Race Day is on Sunday. Entry fee is $20 with all proceeds going to Carbondale Arts.

The annual Hot Tubs & Hot Rods First Friday event returns with a new name, Rally Palooza!  This year, we’ve expanded our hot rod entrants to include classic cars, motorcycles, electric cars & bikes, and more!  Vehicles will be on display in the heart of Carbondale’s Creative District on Main Street from 5:00pm to 8:30pm, with clean up promptly before 9pm; Main Street must be fully accessible by 9pm.
