First Fridays

The First Friday of Every Month

Experience gallery openings, business open houses, and other events, including live music and street performers, in historic downtown, at the Third Street Center, and throughout Highway 133.  Rickshaws and busses allow for FREE and easy transportation throughout town.


5Point Film Festival

An annual film festival set to Inspire, Engage, and Entertain through film screenings, live performances, guest speakers.


Wild West Rodeo

Every Thursday, June 7- August 23, 2012

Saddle up, and join us every Thursday throughout the summer, rain or shine, for the rodeo at the Gus Darien Riding Arena.  Gates open at 5:30pm, Slack kicks off at 6:30pm, and the Grand Entry starts at 7:30pm.  Rodeo events include: bull riding, steer riding, team roping, barrel racing, muttin' busting, and a number of other events. 


Ride the Rockies

June 11-12, 2012

Ride the Rockies will stop in Carbondale this summer for the first time in the 27-year history of the event.  Carbondale will host the riders overnight on Monday, June 11, following a 68-mile push over McClure Pass.  Gear up and help Carbondale welcome the 2,000 bicyclists that make their way from Hotchkiss as they 'ride' into the grounds of the Roaring Fork High School.  Stay tuned for more information!       


Farmers Market

Every Wednesday, June 13- October 3, 2012

The Carbondale Farmer's Market is located in the 4th Street plaza.  Head on over to enjoy the live music, and check out the vendor booths.  The vendors at the Farmer's Market sell fresh fruit, produce, breads, and arts and crafts.


Sopris Music Fest

June 22-23, 2012 

The 11th annual gathering of local musicians in Carbondale kicks off in late June, 2012 with live music at a number of locations throughout Carbondale.  The festival also consists of food booths, beer and wine gardens, crafts and artisans, and the Brown's Amusement Carnival.

Redstone Rally

June 28-July 1, 2012 

The annual Rally consists of a ride-in bike show, Redstone Castle tours, poker run, muscle cars, and live music all weekend!  


4th of July Celebration

Celebrate the 4th of July as never before in the Crystal River Valley. Start your day with one of the best parades around, complete with military jet fly-over, in the small historic town of Redstone. Be sure to bring a picnic to enjoy after the parade on the park, right on the Crystal River. Kids will enjoy the water fun, including games put on by the local fire department, and the parade, which starts at 4pm at 2nd Street & Main Street, heads down Main Street, turns at 7th Street and ends at Sopris Park.  For mom and dad, local shops take to the streets where you can buy anything from crafts to local honey. The Summer of Music series in Sopris Park is a perfect opening act for Steve’s Guitars, Carnahan’s Tavern, and Beer Works on any given Friday or Saturday night. These venues on Main Street host live music from local bands to touring acts on their way from Denver to Aspen. The diversity and quality of live music is rare in a town this size, but it’s what makes Carbondale’s downtown jump on the weekend as music lovers hop from one spot to the other.


Mountain Fair

July 27-29, 2012

The original hippie-fest turns 41 in 2012, and as always, will be filled with a variety of quality music, inspiring dance, delicious food, stunning arts & crafts and fun contests. 


Festival Las Americas

August 26, 2012

The event celebrates the richness of culture and traditions of the American continent. The Festival is organized by Club Rotario Roaring Fork and serves as a fundraiser for educational projects throughout the area. The day will include cultural, artistic and recreational activities for the whole family, plus a great variety of food styles representing flavors from the Chilean coast to the Rockies. Live entertainment will feature Mexican northern music, salsa music, and a full Mariachi band.


2011 National Sheepdog Finals

We hope to be baaaack soon

The 2011 National Sheepdog Finals, USBCHA (United States Border Collie Handlers Association) are coming to Carbondale!  The event will feature 225 top qualifying Border Collies from the United States and Canada. Handler and dog teams will square off with Colorado’s capricious range yearlings for eight days of competition to determine the 2011 National Sheepdog Champion and 2011 National Nursery Sheepdog Champion.


Cowboy Up

August 24, 2012

Celebrate Carbondale's Western Heritage by taking part in the annual Cowboy Up celebration,  from 6pm to 11pm at the 4th Street Plaza.  The event is an affordable, fun night out for everyone to come and enjoy live music, dancing and local food.  For more information, click here.  


Potato Day

September 29, 2012

Potato Day is the longest standing annual community event in Carbondale! Since 1909, local farming and ranching families have kept local traditions alive with a parade, BBQ, potato sack races, and other fun activities that will take place in Sopris Park.


Rocky Mountain Omnium Bike Race

September 22, 2012 

The fifth annual Omnium will include three days of exciting road riding for individual, family and team cycling enthusiasts. 

 


Celtic Fest & Oktoberfest

October 5-6, 2012

To celebrate the Irish by enjoying authentic beers and wines, Celtic dancing and music.  Switch gears the next day with an atmosphere jam-packed with German food and spirits, root beer, music, children's activities, friends, and fun!  Click here for more info. 


Business Conference & Expo

See you in the Fall

The conference will feature nationally renowned economist, R. Dan Brumbaugh, Jr. as well as a panel discussion with County Commissioner, Tom Jankovsky along with County staff, and the new Carbondale Town Manager, Jay Harrington.  We will also have an Organization Forum featuring Carbondale nonprofits.  In addition to the presentations, the business expo runs from 1:00 pm to 6:00 pm and will showcase over 30 local businesses.  The event concludes with a networking opportunity with beer and wine and appetizers being served.  Tickets are $40 in advance and $50 the day of the event.  The event will be held at the Gathering Center at The Orchard, 110 Snowmass Drive, Carbondale, CO.


Light Up Carbondale

December 7, 2012

Children and adults of all ages are invited to light up downtown Carbondale and welcome Santa.  The trees that line Main Street will come to life when Santa reaches the 4th Street Plaza.  This is a chance to mingle with friends and family and tell Santa what you would like for Christmas.  There will be carolers, and free hot chocolate and cookies to keep you warm.


Jingle Bell Run

The 5th Annual Jingle Bell Run will be held December 16, 2012.  Stay tuned for more race info!   As usual this race is a SHOE DRIVE in conjunction with SOLES 4 SOLES (www.soles4souls.org).
