Carbondale Arts, formerly the Carbondale Council on Arts and Humanities (CCAH), was founded in 1974 by community members who saw the arts as essential to the heart & soul of Carbondale. Through the promotion of the arts, artists, arts education, cultural activities and events, Carbondale Arts has been instrumental in forming Carbondale’s unique identity as an arts & culture hot spot in the Rockies. Carbondale Arts believes collaboration with state and local governments, schools, artists, business and other nonprofits to bring the community together for state of the art gallery exhibitions, creative planning, place making, & vibrant happenings in the Carbondale Creative District, the spirited 45 year old Carbondale Mountain Fair, the youth driven Cirque D’Sopris Talent Show, and the a dynamic, alluring, and thought-provoking Green Is The New Black Fashion Extravaganza. Coming in 2017, look out for the retrofitted Rosybelle Art Bus, a fully equipped mobile maker space bring arts education and creative experiences up and down the Roaring Fork Valley.
Carbondale Arts also manages the Carbondale Creative District. The Creative District was designated by Colorado Creative Industries, a division of the state Office of Economic Development and International Trade in 2016.
