Hootenanny with the Heathens
August 11, 2017 @ 5:00 pm - 11:00 pm
The Carbondale Creative District and KDNK Community Access Radio are pleased to announce Hootenanny With The Heathens on Friday, August 11th with The Band of Heathens. Erika Ryann from Larkspur will open the festivities at 6pm. Food and brews from the valley will be available, with proceeds benefitting KDNK. The concert will be free.
The event celebrates the 1 year anniversary of the state certification of Carbondale’s Creative District. “The Creative District process has brought us all together in a stronger, collaborative way,” Amy Kimberly, Executive Director of Carbondale Arts explained, “And community control of our airwaves is important.” KDNK Station Manager Gavin Dahl added, “We are proud to be broadcasting from the heart of Carbondale’s Creative District, and looking forward to celebrating together as a community.”
The Band of Heathens have been Roaring Fork Valley favorites for many years. The band’s fifth studio album and eight overall, Duende, marks their tenth anniversary as a group. “I feel the album brings together all our influences, everything we’ve done over the years as a band,” explains Ed Jurdi. “We’ve touched on every part of our career, our roots, some singer-songwriter contemplative stuff, some high-energy rock ‘n’ roll. It’s all us, the record we were supposed to make. Ten years later, that’s what keeps us coming back.”
The celebration will include creativity in all colors including Rosybelle, the mobile maker bus, interactive installations and lots of community. The event starts at 5 pm on the 4th Street Plaza in the core of The Carbondale Creative District. No advance tickets are required. More info at carbondalecreativedistrict.com.
