3RD ANNUAL FULL MOON WINTER TRI
Saturday, January 30th
Gus Darien Rodeo Grounds
This event is for all levels and based around having fun! So there is no reason to avoid trying the tri. If you are nervous or want to skip an event no worries, we have you covered, or create a team.
The event will look a little different this year to comply due to COVID. We have shortened the course and the whole event will take place on the rodeo grounds. We have also added additional race options to encourage people to come out and try an event and see what all the fun is about. Each event is limited to 10 people, but don’t be discouraged, if something you want to do is full please contact us and we will see if we can add you to a different time slot.
This year we offer:
$15 – Individual Tri starting at 4:30pm
$25 – Team Tri starting at 4:45pm
$15 – Individual or Team Biathlon starting at 5pm
$10 – Single Event Cross Country Ski starting at 5:15pm
$10 – Single Event Fat Bike starting at 5:30pm
$10 – Single Event 1 mile Skate going in waves starting at 5:45pm
The course and order will be: 1.5 mile cross country ski (skate or classic) on a .5 mile loop; 3 mile fat bike ride on a 1 mile course; .5 mile skate of 6 laps around the ice rink. Please note that if we do not get enough snow we will change the cross country ski to a run.
You are required to bring all your own equipment for your events. Wear appropriate gear for the winter conditions on the day of the race including: cross country skis (rentals available at Independence Run and Hike), and a bike and helmet (fat bike rentals available at Aloha Mountain Cyclery), and Ice Skates.
You may arrive 30 min prior to your start time to stage all your equipment; make sure to give yourself enough time to be ready to start at your official start time. Check in under the tent in the parking lot in line with the barn. Parking will be between the barn and county rd 100. Enter in the entrance closest to the ice rink. The road running along the north side of the field and skate rink will be closed for cross country ski loop.
For COVID – Masks are required at check in, once you are finished with the race, and when you are within 6 feet of anyone. Please wear one around your neck during the race and if you pass another person please put it on to pass another individual if you are within 6 feet of one another. We start the race with 15 feet of distance per person and no more than 10 people per start time. We will have public restrooms, however this year we will not be able to provide snacks so please bring any food or drink you require.
We will have multiple bonfires to congregate around with your COVID pod to stay warm if you are racing on a team or have a cheering squad. We will be announcing the winners Monday evening after the race and collecting information for prizes at that time.
