Carbondale Summer of Music
Check back this spring for the 2012 lineup. See below for last season's acts.
Come join us for a relaxing evening of music and friends! All concerts take place in Sopris Park, except for June 17 which will take place on the 4th Street Plaza, and the music starts at 7 p.m.
Smooth Money Gesture
June 17th, 7:00 pm, 4th & Main
With a cadre of originals, a full band sound, including keyboards, and a summer schedule that includes some of the hottest, new festivals like Desert Rocks, Carbondale will kick off the summer in style!
Shannon McNally and Hotsauce
July 4th, 7:00 pm, Sopris Park
Shannon and her band have graced Steve’s Guitars many a packed night and perform at The Belly Up on occasion, but get her out in the wide open with a park full of community and Carbondale will have a special July 4th indeed.
Big Sam’s Funky Nation
July 10, 7:00 pm, Sopris Park
Big Sam’s Funky Nation have established their presence on the forefront of the New Orleans music scene. Trombone powerhouse and band leader “Big Sam” Williams, formerly of the Dirty Dozen Brass Band, has been celebrated as “the top man on the slide trombone in the birthplace of jazz” by the San Francisco Chronicle and the band has been touted for consistently “bringing a straight raw party” by Jambase.
The New Familiars
July 17th, 7:00 pm, Sopris Park
Drawing from the vast influences that they’ve collected throughout their collective careers, this quartet has shaped a sound that combines the nitty-gritty roots music of the Appalachia with guitar-drenched-drum-driven anthems of Rock & Roll.
The Trishas
July 23, 7:00 pm, Sopris Park
To give you an idea of the sound you’ll hear, think of what would happen if Texas dirt, Mississippi River water, City Lights, and Apple Pie all sat down in a pickin’ circle at an Austin, TX backyard party. This combination creates a kind of soul that no definition is worthy to define, and plants a seed of bluegrass that gives blues a place to grow from.
