Rio Grande Trail
Cradled in the bottomlands along the Roaring Fork River, the paved Rio Grande Trail starts in the heart of downtown Aspen and winds its way down the Roaring Fork Valley. It is the perfect choice for families with small children, or for those who want to stretch their legs after work. There are access points near each town along the trail.
Distance: 40 miles from Aspen to Glenwood Springs.
Details: From Aspen to Carbondale, paved trail great for families. The stretch from Carbondale to County Road 114 (CMC turnoff from Highway 82) is not yet paved. To skip this section, bicyclists can take County Road 109, which runs from Carbondale to Highway 82 just south of Glenwood Springs.
