The Tourism Council of Carbondale members are individuals from the Carbondale business community, appointed to fill rotating two-year terms. They have a monthly meeting, tentatively scheduled for the first Wednesday of each month, which are open to the public and the meeting minutes are published.
The Tourism Council of Carbondale (TCC) has developed several projects with the lodging tax funds:
· One of the earliest projects tackled by the TCC was the development of an Outdoor Recreational Brochure, detailing many activities the Carbondale area has to offer. You can pick up a brochure at the Carbondale Chamber office at 981 Cowen Drive, Suite C; or click here to receive a copy by mail.
· Two new publications were recently finalized to complement the popular Outdoor Recreation Brochure: the Arts & Dining Brochure and the Hiking & Biking Guide. To request a copy, click here.
· The largest project was this informative, colorful redesigned website at www.carbondale.com, which launched May 1, 2006!
· An e-marketing program of ePostcards was lauched in January 2007. Each month subscribers receive helpful tips about the Carbondale area to plan an exciting day trip or their dream vacation. To sign up for the monthly ePostcard, click here. To read the past issues, click here.
· The TCC began a search engine optimization (SEO) program by researching keywords, optimizing metatags, evaluating and optimizing the content on top level pages and submitting www.carbondale.com to variety of relevant directories. This will ensure that when searching for activities and places around Carbondale, www.carbondale.com comes out on top.
· Another development was the creation of the Special Event Fund (SEF), which was set up to support new or annual events in Carbondale. The SEF provides qualified applicants monies to help promote tourism in Carbondale. Please visit our Special Event/Project Fund page to download the application.
