Mountain Fair

The 40th Annual Carbondale Mountain Fair will take place on July 29, 30, and 31, 2011.  This annual art and entertainment festival is held at Sopris Park in historic downtown Carbondale.  Arts and crafts vendors, demonstrations, live music, good eats, and great memories are a guarantee.  Visit CCAH's website, www.carbondalearts.com for more information. 


This year marks the 40th time the tribe will gather for this annual summer celebration of art and music in Carbondale. For three days, July 29-31, the town will be transformed by a host of musicians, artists, unique events.

Here's the musical lineup for this year's festival:

FRIDAY

Noon – Fair opens

4:00 – Rhythms Of The Heart Drum Circle

4:45 – Clifford Duncun and the Utes

Bobby Mason5:00 –  Bobby Mason – Rockin the Rockies for over 40 years, he is beloved in the Roaring Fork Valley. Bobby has played with John Denver and members of the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, and has been joined on stage by Jimmy Buffet, Dan Fogelberg and New Grass Revival.

7:00 -  Elephant Revival –  The neo-acoustic quintet is on the cutting edge of an emerging new genre that is known as ‘Transcendental Folk. They have a growing fanbase that is propelling them quickly to the top.

9:00 – The 40th MF Retrospective Slideshow – Check out those 70’s and 80’s styles, see what your neighbor looked like 30 years ago, laugh and share in this kick-off to our 40th.


SATURDAY

11:00 – 2:00 – We Love Our Local Bands! Start the day with All The Pretty Horses, one of Carbondale’s beloved acoustic/rock bands filled with unique rhythms and Olivia Pevec’s soaring vocals. Slip into Mile Markers rockin alt country kind of sound and finish off with Tjaar playing a mixed bag of rock, reggae and dance music.

2:30 – The Hillbenders - Undeniably the hottest young band on the acoustic scene, The HillBenders have been  gaining international recognition for their aggressive combination of contemporary influences with traditional inspiration and instrumentation, as well as their infectiously energetic stage performances.

Blame Sally5:00 – Blame Sally - In 1999, in a little-known but epic logistical meltdown, the Lilith Fair and OzzFest are accidentally booked into the same Indiana venue on the same hot August night. While Paula Cole and Rob Zombie wrestle for control of the venue, fans—including the 4 members of Blame Sally—are blown away by unusual blend of black metal and estrogen-tinged folk. Monica, Renee, Pam and Jeri , waiting patiently for Sarah McLachlan’s autograph, are rocked to their musical cores by the sight and sound of the Indigo Girls and Missy Elliot jamming with Pantera. The rest is history. 

7:00  Sambadende - Sambadende has been sharing the energy of Brazilian music with its loyal fans since 2001. Each show packs the powerful combination of drums and vocals that take you to the sexy streets of Rio De Janero.


SUNDAY

10:00 – Earthbeat Choir

11:00 – Gospel Sunday

12:30 – Sirens Of Swing – A classic Mountain Fair band these local musicians combine great musicianship with sweet harmonies to bring 50’s lounge music, motown and rock to life!

1:45– Jazz Aspen Student Recital

2:45 – Truckstop Honeymoon - Tough, funny and hi-octane songs about interstates, pinball arcades and true love, they charm festival crowds and drive roadhouse drinkers to the dance-floor.

7:00 – Kyle Hollingsworth Band - Today, as a member of acclaimed jam masters The String Cheese Incident, Hollingsworth is revered by both peers and fans for his ability to write and perform in a mosaic of styles, from rock to classical, ragtime to bebop. This is an amazing end to our 40th year!
