The picturesque town of Carbondale is located 170 miles west of Denver, 30 miles from Aspen, and 12 miles from Glenwood Springs, in the heart of Colorado's central Rocky Mountains. At an altitude of 6,181 feet, and resting in the magnificent shadow of 12,953-foot Mt. Sopris, the Carbondale area is characterized by an average of 295 days of sunshine, low humidity, cold but mild winters and comfortable summers.

Family Vacation

Explore exciting family vacation ideas and visit Carbondale this summer. We offer a variety of activities, events and educational outings to create a remarkable time for your entire family.
Try extreme skate on the 13,300 square foot North Face skateboard park or play disc golf with your children at the Gianinetti Park. You can also get a splash at the town's public pool and finish your day at the new Recreation Center and its seven-station climbing wall.
Summer camp is also available by local organizations where children can learn about nature, sports, music, and clay arts.
The Ride the Rio Grande Trail has finished the stretch between Carbondale and Glenwood Springs and you now can enjoy over 44 miles biking or hiking on a continuous multi-use trail.
Events are booming this summer. Bring your family to LobsterFest and Crawl or to the Carbondale Mountain Fair. On Thursday's evening, the Wild West Rodeo will offer a big time fun until the end of August!
