It goes without saying, Carbondale has some great camping.

Carbondale offers many types of camping, from backcountry to dedicated sites to family-friendly campgrounds.

    Bogan Flats

    A little farther up Highway 133 is Bogan Flats, a great family campsite on the Crystal River. Bogan Flats has clean bathrooms, picnic tables, and grills for that rainbow trout.

    Gateway RV Park

    Gateway RV Park owned by the Town of Carbondale, is located on the Roaring Fork River just west of the Highway 82 & 133 intersection on the northern entrance into Carbondale. The RV Park entrance is on Highway 82, approximately 1-mile west of this intersection.

    Redstone Campground

    Redstone Campground is set among a scattering of aspen groves on a ridge above the Crystal River at 7,800 feet, creating an ideal setting for guests seeking both recreation and relaxation in White River National Forest. Located 13 miles south of Carbondale next to the Crystal River, Redstone Campground offers 37 campsites plus 2 host sites. There is also camping units for autos, tents, campers and RV's and water at site hook-up for sites 1 through 19 and from hydrants for sites 21 through 38.

    Thompson Creek

    Another great camping destination is located right outside of town in local-favorite area Thompson Creek. Take Main Street west through town until you are on Thompson Creek Road. Follow the road for several miles until you reach an endless assortment of campsites. Don't forget your fly rod for those fighting "brookies."
