Welcome to Carbondale, Colorado!
The picturesque town of Carbondale is
located 170 miles west of Denver, 30 miles
from Aspen, and 12 miles from Glenwood
Springs, in the heart of Colorado's
central Rocky Mountains. At an altitude
of 6,181 feet, and resting in the magnificent shadow of 12,953-foot Mt. Sopris,
the Carbondale area is characterized by an
average of 295 days of sunshine, low humidity, cold but mild winters and
comfortable summers.

If you love fresh snow Carbondale has
great opportunities to explore hundreds of trails for skiing,
snowmobiling, and snowshoeing. The Town also offers a public rink for
ice skating and hockey games.
Seven miles west of town you'll find the Spring Gulch Nordic Trail
System and its 12 miles of tracked trails. For backcountry skiing, head
south to Avalanche Creek just off Highway 133. The route is good for
both snowshoers and skiers.
From Carbondale, drive east to Aspen for downhill skiing in Aspen Mountain, Highlands, Buttermilk and Snowmass.
For beginners and experts looking for steeps and bumps, you are just 30
minutes away. Sunlight Mountain Resort, 12 miles south of
Glenwood Springs, offers an uncomplicated trail system with a variety
of terrains. The laid-back, friendly resort also has trails for snowmobiling, cross-country skiing, and snowshoeing.
