The picturesque town of Carbondale is
located 170 miles west of Denver, 12 miles
from Glenwood Springs, and 30 minutes from Aspen,
in the heart of Colorado's central Rocky Mountains. At an altitude of 6,181 feet, and
resting in the shadow of magnificent 12,953-foot Mt. Sopris, the
Carbondale area is characterized by an average of 295 days of sunshine,
low humidity, cold but mild winters and comfortable summers.

Opportunities for mountain biking adventures abound around town. One
of the most popular spots in Carbondale
is the Red Hill trails, often referred to as "Mushroom Rock."

If you love skateboarding, you don't want to miss Carbondale's
13,300 square foot skate park, with an untamed collection of bowls,
topped off with an 18-foot full-pipe and a never ending combination of
lines.
The Roaring Fork Valley
is a center of that favorite Colorado
pastime rock climbing. Within an easy drive of Carbondale lie several nationally known climbing
areas like the riverside boulders in Redstone, the limestone cliffs in Rifle Mountain
Park, and the airy crags
alongside the winding road up Independence Pass.
